Riveting stories of personal transformations

Looking Back with Jim and Joan

Jim and Joan McMillan look back on the last 4 decades of their practice of Nichiren Buddhism. In this honest conversation they talk about their friends, marriage, family and the one dream that keeps them going. We learn about their struggles of being poor, raising a family, meeting their mentor, taking on leadership and some intimate secrets that both enthrall and inspire us in our own journey of human revolution.

Practicing Buddhism yields tangible effects within an individual’s daily life. One person’s experiences of overcoming problems or achieving their goals can serve as inspiration for another to positively challenge his or her own circumstances.

It is only when we push ourselves beyond our limits that our success becomes meaningful to ourselves and respected by others. Living a ‘safe’ existence in which we merely abide by society’s rules is to shirk the bigger challenges involved in living in a way which both maximizes our positive, creative influence and actively tackles those forces which cause suffering and abuse.

This selection of experiences illustrates the process of “human revolution” in action–how an individual’s inner-motivated transformation sparks changes in their life and circumstances.
